"The national team's coaching staff is watching the championship matches."
These words were said by Aykhan Abbasov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national football team.
He stated that it is gratifying that local football players appear on the field in their teams.
"These players come to the national team's training camp prepared. As you know, there will be a training camp before the Nations League. We will hold test matches with Malta and San Marino. We want to have good results in these matches and have a good start to the Nations League. I guess we will fully clarify the squad after the cup final and the championship are over," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.
The head coach said that their main goal in the Nations League is to rise to League C again:
"Of course, we wouldn't want to be in League D. Our current opponents, Lithuania and Luxembourg, are teams close to us. We have chances for the next division."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face the Lithuanian and Liechtenstein national teams in the second group of League D. The new season in the Nations League will start in September this year.
