An awareness session on combating match-fixing was held for the U-17 women's national team of Azerbaijan by Naib Asadov, Head of the AFFA Compliance and Anti-Match-Fixing Department, and UEFA's responsible person for combating match-fixing.
Idman.Biz reports that at the beginning of the training held at the National Teams Training Center based on the format defined in the UEFA competition rules, a short question-and-answer session was held to check the participants' existing knowledge in this area.
The team members were explained the basic values of football and the principles of fair play, and detailed information was provided about the concept of match-fixing, the essence of these actions, and their possible consequences. Discussions were held on real events, statistical indicators and videos were shown.
The following topics were also explained within the framework of the training:
• Risks of betting activities and illegal activities,
• Sanctions and their application mechanism,
• The essence of the changes made to the AFFA Disciplinary Code for the 2025/2026 football season regarding match-fixing.
At the end of the session, the football players asked questions about the topic and were answered by the trainer.
AFFA will continue its activities to raise awareness of young football players and promote the principles of fair play and transparency.
