"It will be quite an important and interesting summer for Azerbaijani football. We hope that 4 of our clubs will reach the main stage of European cups this season." These words were said by Arif Asadov in an interview with Sport24.az.
The experienced specialist evaluated the chances of our clubs that will represent our country in European cups this season:
"Of course, it would be an ideal scenario for all four teams to advance to the main stage. For this, both the draw factor, the transfer policy, and the summer preparation will be decisive. If "Qarabagh" has mainly carried this burden for many years, it is already felt that other clubs also want to put forward certain claims in Europe. The Aghdam club is still considered the biggest hope. The club has known the rhythm of European cups for many years. The team has learned the importance of playing in continental tournaments - aspects such as managing away matches, tactical flexibility in two-match duels, and maintaining game discipline under pressure are their advantages. In addition, the club's established system and coaching stability are also important factors. If a large part of the main players are protected in the summer and several quality transfers are made, it seems normal that they will be close to the main stage again. Especially the increase in competition in the Premier League last season showed that clubs are starting to plan not only for domestic competitions, but also for European cups.
Asadov also emphasized that he believes that two of our representatives will advance to the main stage:
"Which is more likely? It is difficult to comment on this. I believe that at least two of our teams will perform on the continental stage until winter. All 4 teams need to strengthen their squad, and the head coaches are thinking about this. Currently, "Sabah" has a more stable squad. "Qarabagh", "Turan Tovuz" and "Neftchi" will probably attract new players to their squad. The head coach of each of the four clubs has European Cup experience. The main thing is that their experience will be an impetus for their teams to advance to the next stage."
It should be noted that the draw for the European Cups this season will be held on June 16.
