Aleksandr Chertoganov, the Ukrainian former football player of the Azerbaijani national team and "Neftchi," commented on the appointment of Yuriy Vernydub as the head coach of the "black and whites."
Idman.Biz reports that Chertoganov also spoke about parting ways with Samir Abasov in his statement to sportal.az.
"Samir Abasov was dismissed from the position of head coach. Apparently, the management of "Neftchi" did not want to wait. He was dismissed because there were no results. There are some details that had to fall into place. In any case, there are also new players in the team. Team play requires time. It was not possible to do this quickly. In any case, it takes time for the players to adapt to each other and play at the required level. There was no time for that. Because no one is waiting, they want results," said Chertoganov.
The Ukrainian, who said he was aware of Yuriy Vernydub's appointment, said that he is a maximalist:
"Vernydub knows how to work with teams of this level. His work ethic and emotionality are at the highest level. He is really a good coach. There was really no need to invite a coach from Europe. Because I don't remember any coach showing himself in Azerbaijan from the best side in recent years. Therefore, there is no need for it. "Neftchi" has always been a people's team, although "Qarabag" has taken over this baton in recent years. But I think that "Neftchi" should return its achievements and make the fans happy. I hope that "Neftchi" will be able to do this."
