Aleksandr Chertoganov, a former Ukrainian football player of the Azerbaijani national team and "Neftchi", commented on the appointment of Yuriy Vernidub as the head coach of the "white-blacks".
Idman.Biz reports that Chertoganov also spoke about parting ways with Samir Abasov in his statement to sportal.az.
"Samir Abasov was dismissed from the position of head coach. Apparently, the management of "Neftchi" did not want to wait. He was dismissed due to the lack of results. There are some details that needed to be fixed. In any case, there are new players in the team. Team play requires time. It was not possible to do it quickly. In any case, it takes time for the players to adapt to each other and play at the required level. There was no time either. Because no one is waiting, they want results," said Chertoganov.
The Ukrainian, who said that he was aware of Yuriy Vernidub's appointment, said that he is a maximalist:
"Vernidub knows how to work with teams of this level. His work ethic and emotionality are at the highest level. He is really a good coach. There was really no need to invite a coach from Europe. Because I don't remember any coach showing himself in Azerbaijan in the best way in recent years. So there is no need for it. "Neftchi" has always been a people's team, although "Qarabağ" has taken over this relay in recent years. But I think that "Neftchi" should restore its achievements and make the fans happy. I hope that "Neftchi" will be able to do it."
