AFA President Klaudio Tapia has shared his thoughts on the possibility of Lionel Messi ending his career in the national team.

Tapia stated that this is entirely Messi's personal decision and the footballer should be given time to make a choice:
"This is his personal decision. We should let him be. In 2022, we didn't know if he would play in 2026. He said that we should go from match to match. I think we saw one of the best versions of Leo at the World Cup.
We should let him continue to enjoy football. Then we should create conditions for him to make the right decision".
Tapia also highly appreciated Messi's performance at the 2026 World Cup.
"It was a great World Cup for Leo. We enjoyed it and should be proud of it. I enjoyed every moment of it. Undoubtedly, he was the leader of this team at the World Cup. If we analyze his performance, for me, he was the best player. He broke records in every game".
Recall that earlier, there were reports that Messi might appear in the Argentina national team again. However, the Argentine footballer has not made any statements about his future yet.
