Govhar Beydullayeva won an important victory over Swiss Maria Manko, which allowed her to improve her position in the tournament table. Khanim Balajayeva drew with Alexandra Kosteniuk.
After eight rounds, Fataliyeva and Balajayeva have 4.5 points each and are in 12th and 14th place, respectively. Beydullayeva scored 3.5 points and is in 39th place.
