Preparations for the XI Vugar Hashimov Memorial, which will be held in Khankendi, are proceeding at a high level.
Idman.Biz reports that this was stated by the director of the tournament, Anar Allahverdiyev, in his statement to the press.
The expert believes that the participants of the competition will fight at a high level:
"Preparations for the XI Vugar Hashimov Memorial are continuing at a high level. The venue and players of the competition have been determined. This time, the chess players' struggle will take place in Khankendi."
Allahverdiyev, saying that the competition to be held in Khankendi is a symbol of the victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War, said that strong chess players will face each other in the tournament:
"Last year, the Memorial was held in Shusha. I can say with a sense of pride that this competition is a high-status international tournament. Strong chess players will face each other. For example, Russian Yan Nepomniachtchi is included in the list of elite chess players and is very strong. Among the young stars, I can mention the name of Uzbek Nodirbek Yakubboev. He delights the entire Turkish world with his beautiful game. Other chess players are also remembered for their successful performances. Rauf Mammadov, the leader of the "Vugar Hashimov" club, a 3-time European champion, who played in the same team with Vugar for many years, and Aydin Suleymanli will also compete from local chess players. Of course, there is great interest in this tournament. Holding the competition in Khankendi also gives a great impetus to the development of chess in the regions."
The director also informed about the format of the competition: "The competition will be held in blitz and rapid formats. There will be 15 minutes + 10 seconds in rapid, and 3 minutes + 2 seconds in blitz. It is held in a shortened format in terms of time to enjoy chess. It is necessary to keep up with this. The Vugar Hashimov Memorial also started with a large control time. However, taking into account the requirements of the time, we also switched to this format. In this case, the game is more dynamic and exciting. In terms of competition, we believe that our chess players will perform at a high level and take high places."
It should be noted that the tournament will be held on December 9-11.
