The newly created "World Boxing" federation plans to support refereeing with artificial intelligence at tournaments.
Idman.Biz reports that Alimzhan Akayev, Vice President for International Affairs of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, announced this at the annual conference.
According to him, the introduction of an artificial intelligence system as an additional refereeing tool is planned at "World Boxing" competitions. This system will calculate the number of blows, their accurate hits and their strength. The goal is to minimize the influence of the human factor.
Currently, the integration of the system into the competition process is planned by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
In addition, in order to protect the health of athletes, the use of helmets (protective headgear) in Olympic boxing may be allowed again from the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
