"Victory Cup" competition kicks off: Opening ceremony held

The "Victory Cup", organized by the leadership of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation and the "Arpachay Karate Club", has started.

Idman.biz reports that the opening ceremony of the competition, which will last for 2 days among children, teenagers and youth, took place.

Well-known representatives of the sports community, officials of state institutions, public figures and other guests attended the event.

At the ceremony, the National Anthem was played first. The dear memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who died for the freedom of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Ulvi Guliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation and Member of Parliament, spoke about the importance of the cup at the event. He stated that the development and wide expansion of karate in our country is the logical result of the special care shown by national leader Heydar Aliyev to sports and the healthy development of our youth.

According to the head of the Federation, today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, wide opportunities have been created for the development of sports in our country, sports infrastructure has been modernized, and the victories of Azerbaijani athletes in the international arena once again demonstrate the power of our state: The "Victory Cup" tournament is not only a sports competition, but also the historic victory of our people in the 44-day Patriotic War, respect for the sacred spirit of our martyrs, and the symbol of the patriotic spirit of our youth. This competition will be an important school for young karatekas."

Members of Parliament Fazil Mustafa and Vugar Rahimzade, who spoke at the opening ceremony, also highly appreciated the importance of the event and wished success to our athletes.

At the event, Ali Asgarov, the head of "Arpachay Sports Union", was awarded an honorary 5th dan black belt by the Azerbaijan Karate Federation for his services in the development of karate.

It should be noted that more than 800 karatekas from different regions of Azerbaijan are competing in the "Victory Cup", which will end tomorrow. The main purpose of the tournament is to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, accelerate the development of karate, and instill in the younger generation the greatness of Victory Day, which has become a heroic chronicle of the Azerbaijani people.
