Azerbaijani MMA fighter Suad Salimova is entering a new stage in her career. In the near future, she will meet UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili and Azerbaijani fighter Nazim Sadykhov in Las Vegas to receive support and motivation from them.
Suad Salimova spoke to Idman.biz in an interview about her plans, the upcoming fight and her goals.
– You defeated your French opponent in your last fight in Montpellier in February. What has changed in your career since then and what preparations are you currently making?
– That fight was an important period for me. The victory showed me that I was on the right track. I am now preparing in Montpellier for my next fight. This fight is of great importance to close the season and move to a new level in 2026.
– How was your meeting with Merab Dvalishvili and Nazim Sadykhov in Las Vegas?
– These meetings were very valuable to me. Merab is a symbol of work, discipline and will, and his words "believe in yourself and work until the end" inspired me. My conversation with Nazim was more personal; we are compatriots and this feeling was very touching for me. His advice helped me to focus and make the right decisions.
– What do you think about the UFC tournament in Baku?
– This is a very important step. It shows that Azerbaijan is a serious force in the world arena. When I go to fight, I proudly raise the Azerbaijani flag. This is also an indication of my love for my country.
– What is your attitude to the nickname "Iron Girl"?
– I chose this nickname myself. "Iron" is a symbol of strength and will. I may be softer in life, but in battle I am strong and determined. "Iron Girl" reflects my character and fighting spirit.
– What is your main goal in your next fight?
– This fight is important for me in terms of closing the season and preparing for 2026. I want to show all my skills and strength. The victory will also complete the experience I have gained throughout the year.
– What are your short and long-term goals?
– My short-term goal is to participate in regular fights and achieve stable victories. My long-term goal is to fight in major international organizations. I want to prove myself in the "UFC". I know it will be difficult, but I am an "Iron Girl" and I will go to the end.
– What is your support for sports in Azerbaijan and your future plans?
– There are few female MMA fighters in Baku. The support of each one is very valuable to me.
