Athlete Araz Musayev, who was stabbed during a competition in Turkey, lost in court to Azer Hasansoy, the current de facto president of the Azerbaijan Muaythai-Tayboks Federation.
İdman.biz reports that this was stated by Elchin Eminov, the head coach of the youth wushu national team, in his statement to Oxu.Az.
He stated that an extraordinary presidential election was held in the federation in November 2024, and Azer Hasansoy won. Araz Musayev, who has been the president of the federation since 2022, appealed to the court because he did not agree with this decision.
The court considered Azer Hasansoy's re-election as the president of the Azerbaijan Muaythai-Tayboks Federation to be completely legal and correct. The process took place on July 9 this year.
The decision noted that Azer Hasansoy is the founder and president of the Azerbaijan Federation of Martial Arts Associations, the Azerbaijan Muaythai-Tayboks Federation, and the Azerbaijan Wushu Federation.
He also works as the head coach of the Azerbaijani national wushu and muaythai teams. Hasansoy, who founded the Federation of Eastern Martial Arts in 1992, established a separate Muaythai Federation in 1996 in accordance with international requirements and has been leading the federation ever since.
It should be noted that Musayev presented himself as the president of the federation in his statements after the incident in Turkey.
