The final day of the karate competition at the III CIS Games was successful for our team.
Idman.biz reports that the team led by Shahin Atamov won three gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.
It should be noted that until today, taekwondo athletes have won the most gold medals for Azerbaijan at the III CIS Games. Thus, taekwondo athletes won four gold medals.
Now, the focus is on karate fighters: will they be able to surpass this result?
Idman.biz addressed this question to Shahin Atamov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani men's karate team.
"Yes, our athletes performed well yesterday, but an even better result is possible. I think Farid Savadov, who competed in the 60 kg weight category, could not fully show his potential in the final and lost the gold medal. But that is already in the past. I hope that our karate fighters will break the record in the number of gold medals. We plan to win three gold medals today. I am sure that the karate fighters will surpass the results of the taekwondo athletes," said Shahin Atamov.
