Scandal at the European Championship: Yusif Agakishiyev claims his victory was taken away

A scandal occurred at the European Schoolboy Boxing Championship in Zlatibor, Serbia. During the fight between Azerbaijani athlete Yusif Agakishiyev and Serbian Viktor Maystorovic, technical director Hamza Avezov entered the ring to protest the referee's decisions.

İdman.biz reports that our boxer Yusif Agakishiyev spoke about the incident in an interview with "Qafqazinfo."

He stated that he faced the referee's injustice: "I was facing a local athlete in the final match. I was superior to my opponent and could have won a gold medal. But the judges decided otherwise. I was treated unfairly. They took away my clean victory. My coach Hamza Avezov couldn't stand it and entered the ring. As a result, this situation arose. I think the reason for the judges' decisions was that the opponent was local. There was fraud, and the victory was given to the opponent."

Agakishiyev also emphasized that despite the protests, the judges did not give any answers: "There was a protest, but there was no response from the judges. They upheld their decision. It was the first time I encountered such a situation. Sometimes these things happen in boxing. Concessions are made to local athletes."
