In the main fight of the UFC Fight Night 261 tournament, which will be held on October 12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian Charles Oliveira, the former champion of the lightweight division, and Azerbaijani fighter Rafael Fiziyev were supposed to face each other.
Lent.az reports that Fiziyev has withdrawn from the tournament due to injury.
The fighter, who is in 10th place in the lightweight ranking, commented on his decision and gave detailed information about the injury he received:
"Many people ask me what happened and why I won't fight?. I injured my knee again, but there is no need for surgery. However, I can't put myself at 100% power, train, wrestle and spar. Now I need a few months to recover before I can return to the fight", - Fiziyev shared on social networks.
Instead of the Azerbaijani athlete, Pole Mateusz Gamrot, who is in 8th place in the division's ranking, will fight Charles Oliveira.
