Thirty-eight-year-old Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has decided to relinquish his WBO cruiserweight title.
According to Idman.Biz, the organization itself announced this after receiving an official notification from the boxer's team.
"WBO announces today that it has received official information from Oleksandr Usyk's team regarding the future of the WBO cruiserweight championship. After careful consideration, Usyk has decided to relinquish the title. We accept his decision and treat it with respect," the press release said.
Usyk is stepping away from becoming the undisputed world champion at cruiserweight for the second time in his professional career. However, the Ukrainian boxer continues to hold the WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF, and The Ring belts, maintaining his status as one of the best boxers in the division.
