Magomedrasul Majidov, the only three-time world champion among amateurs in the history of Azerbaijani boxing, considers 38-year-old Oleksandr Usyk to be the favorite in the fight against 27-year-old British boxer Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place on the night of July 19-20 in London.
The famous Azerbaijani boxer himself told İdman.biz about this.
Majidov says that although Usyk is 11 years older than his opponent, experience plays a decisive role in such fights, and he is the favorite: "My prediction: Usyk's probability of winning is 70 percent, and Dubois's probability of winning is 30 percent."
He also explained how the British boxer can defeat his more titled opponent: "If Dubois can solve the endurance problem, he will have a chance. In addition, he must definitely fight. He can win not just by boxing, but by fighting. Because in boxing, no one can keep up with Usyk technically today – his legs are fast, his technique is high. You need to put pressure on him, move forward, push him, and sometimes break the rules. If Dubois prefers this tactic, he will have a chance."
The three-time world champion added that, despite his age, Usyk has the power to fight 12 rounds at a high level.
It should be noted that Magomedrasul Majidov faced Oleksandr Usyk in March 2013 as part of the World Boxing Series, and the Ukrainian boxer won that fight: "I didn't have the strength at that time to put pressure on him throughout the fight. In fact, I shouldn't have gone to that fight, they asked me. After a two-month break, I trained for only 10 days and entered the ring. I just didn't have the strength."
