Khayal Janiyev: "I also wished to fight in such a tournament in my homeland"

Khayal Janiyev, our compatriot living in Russia, was among those who watched the UFC tournament held in Baku.

The famous MMA fighter shared his thoughts about "UFC Fight Night" with Idman.biz.

Janiyev said that it was a magnificent, global and large-scale tournament: "In my opinion, this will be a good impetus for MMA in Azerbaijan, and for Azerbaijani sports in general. I came from Russia specifically to watch this tournament - to support our guys, to cheer them on."

He emphasized that Nazim Sadykhov's fight was bright, spectacular, and emotional: "The fight started with reconnaissance, then, unfortunately, Nazim took blows to the abdomen, but he did not break. This shows that Nazim's character is strong, his spirit is strong. He endured and then delivered strong, devastating blows himself. He showed a very bright fight and won a well-deserved victory."

Evaluating Tofig Musayev's performance, Janiyev did not hide his regret: "Everyone expected that Tofig would perform well, win, and make us happy. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. He was also unlucky. I hope that he will work on his mistakes and come back stronger."

He said that Rafael Fiziev fought very tactically and technically, as well as intelligently: "The opponent was very strong, serious, disturbing and extremely tall. It is difficult to fight with such opponents. But Rafael showed a very high-level and tactical fight - both in the stand-up position and in wrestling. He showed that he can both defend and attack. For this reason, the fight was bright, beautiful and exciting. Everyone liked it."

Janiyev expressed his desire to fight in Baku: "I also wished to fight in such a tournament in my homeland. I hope that this tournament will be a good impetus for Azerbaijani MMA fighters."
