The traditional Great Silk Road international tournament among male and female boxers has started in Baku.
Idman.Biz reports that four boxers of the Azerbaijani national team advanced to the next stage on the first day of the competition.
In the 55 kg weight category, Nijat Huseynov defeated Ion Plinga (Moldova) at the start. The European champion, who finished all 3 rounds in his favor, won with a score of 5:0 (30:27, 30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27) in the end.
In this weight category, Zelimkhan Suleymanov eliminated his teammate Kenan Babayev from the competition. He won with complete superiority in the second round. Suleymanov and Huseynov, who advanced to the next stage, will compete against each other in the 1/4 finals.
Mahmud Huseynov (65 kg) qualified for the 1/4 finals because Zviad Tchotchua from Georgia did not participate in the fight. He will fight against his teammate Zaur Gahramanov in this stage.
Malik Hasanov (65 kg) also made it to the 1/4 finals. Our boxer was superior to Yigit Usta (Turkey) in the first match – 5:0 (29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). Hasanov will test Levan Demurovi (Georgia) in his next match.
It should be noted that the Great Silk Road international tournament, held with the participation of 10 countries at the Boxing Center, will end on April 7.
