Amina Taghi, the winner of the European Youth Boxing Championship held in Novi Pazar, Serbia, gave an interview to Oxu.az.
Idman.biz reports that the young athlete said she prepared specifically for the final fight.
- Amina khanum, first of all, congratulations! How does it feel to win the European Championship?
- I am very happy and proud. I fulfilled the dream I had in my heart for a long time.
- How difficult and responsible was it for you to prepare for this competition?
- It was very difficult and responsible. I had to give my maximum strength in every workout, I had to prepare myself both physically and mentally. Every time I thought that this competition was important for my future, so I never backed down.
- Did the fact that your opponent was an Armenian athlete create additional motivation for you, or was it just another fight?
- I am an athlete and I approach every fight with the same seriousness. It is not important for me that the opponent is Armenian, the main goal is to win. I was out of politics, I was just preparing for the fight.
- What was your tactic during the fight and how did you analyze your opponent?
- My opponent in the final was a two-time European champion. Before the fight, I re-watched all her matches and knew how she behaved in the ring. I had analyzed my opponent's weaknesses in advance and focused on hitting them. I thought it would be very difficult, but in the fight I saw that it was easier than I thought. This made me even more confident and allowed me to do my job.
- What do you think was the most critical moment and what were you thinking at that moment?
- The most critical moment for me was the third round. In that round, I had to fight with all my might, give my all, to win. Every second of the round was very important, and that's why all my attention was there.
