At the U-20 European Championship held in Caorle, Italy, one Azerbaijani wrestler won a gold medal and another won a silver medal.
The Wrestling Federation's Press Service told "Report" about this.
Vasif Baghirov (57 kg) won a determined victory in the final against Georgian Nika Tsangaladze in a tense match. The product of the Ganja wrestling school, who finished the first half trailing 5:6, secured his advantage after the break – 9:6. Thus, V. Baghirov, who won a silver medal at the U-20 European Championship last year, became the champion this time.
Muradkhan Omarov (79 kg) faced a Georgian representative in the decisive match. However, unlike his debutant teammate, he could not win. The product of the Shamakhi wrestling school could not cope with Davit Tsetselashvili – 0:10. Thus, M. Omarov won a silver medal.
Although Ravan Musayev (97 kg) defeated Hungarian Peter Shivnovsky 7:0 in the consolation match, he lost to Russian Magomedgadzhi Magomedov in the bronze medal match – 0:6.
