These words were said by Soner Demirtaş, the head coach of the Turkish national wrestling team, while talking about the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
The specialist stated that the team participated in the competition with 10 athletes: "On the first day of the competition, 5 wrestlers took to the mat, and now 3 athletes will have consolation matches, and 5 more athletes will compete during the day," he told AZERTAC.
According to S.Demirtaş, the team won 4 medals at the U-23 World Championship and 7 medals at the European Championship last year: "This year, we participated in the competition mainly with the same team. We aim to be in the top "three"."
The head coach added that the team has 3 medal matches today and successful results are expected from experienced athletes.
He stated that the team includes prize-winners of European and world championships in their age categories: "Some of these athletes will also participate in the European Championship among adults, which will be held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, in the near future."
Soner Demirtaş is a three-time European champion. He won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
It should be noted that the U-23 European Championship will end on March 15.
