This was stated by the head coach of the Azerbaijani national men's volleyball team, Boris Grebennikov.
The specialist stated that their goals are big.
"The main task for the national team this season is to form a combative team united for a common goal. All players must fight with the same goal and desire, with the desire to win. I think that is the most important thing. Of course, we want to be as high as possible in the ranking table and I think we have the highest goals," he said in an interview with report.az.
B. Grebennikov also spoke about preparations for the European League:
"The team came together on May 4 and will continue training in Baku until the 22nd. After May 22, we will go to Minsk and continue training in the capital of Belarus. Several friendly matches are also planned there. The first week of preparation is more of an introductory and adaptation nature. The goal is to bring all players to the same level of physical fitness. Because some of the volleyball players recently participated in playoff games and competed for prizes. The other group had a slightly longer break because they did not play in the playoffs. Therefore, the main task of the coaching staff is to bring all players to the same level of physical condition."
The head coach also spoke about the goals in the tournament:
"Specific goals have been set for this season. There is a rejuvenation process in the team. 4 players from the youth national team have been attracted to the main team. The main goal of the coaching staff is to adapt them to the level of the national team as soon as possible, to gain international experience and to form a combative team. Preparation is continuing very seriously. Our opponents are very strong this year. Almost all teams will perform with their main squad. Therefore, the international season will be very difficult. But I think we can achieve our goals."
It should be noted that the first matches of our national team in the European League will be held in Sweden on June 5-7.
