The "SPLASH for Swimmable Cities" event was held on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity within the framework of Baku 2026 - "World Sports Capital" and "Baku Urban Planning Week" with the organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, The Swimmable Cities Alliance and the UN-Habitat.
Idman.Biz reports that representatives of the diplomatic corps operating in our country, guests of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), athletes and swimming enthusiasts participated in the event held in the coastal area of the "Sea Breeze Resort".
The Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, the Executive Director of the UN-Habitat Anaklaudia Rossbach and the Advisor of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation Rashad Abdurrahmanov, Azerbaijan's first "Ironman" Firdovsi Kerimov spoke at the event. They thanked everyone who joined the action and noted the role of swimming in a healthy lifestyle.
After the speeches, about 100 participants joined the action by swimming in the sea at the same time.
