The National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOC) has officially appealed to the International Olympic Committee.
This was reported to "Report" by the NOC's press service.
It was emphasized that 7 athletes of the Azerbaijani Olympic team won medals in judo, taekwondo, boxing, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France.
2 of the medals were gold, 2 were silver, and 3 were bronze. Our Olympians, who successfully competed and won awards in Paris, applied to the National Olympic Committee this month regarding the loss of quality of the medals.
The National Olympic Committee conducted investigations based on the appeal of these athletes, and as a result, it became known that, except for Olympic judo champion Hidayat Heydarov (-73 kg) and freestyle wrestling bronze medalist Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg), there were significant changes in the medals of the other five athletes.
It was revealed that the gold medal of Olympic judo champion Zelim Kotsoev (-100 kg), the silver medals of taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) and boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg), and the bronze medals of Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) have lost their quality.
As a result of these investigations, the National Olympic Committee sent an official appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). After receiving a response from the IOC regarding this appeal, further steps will be taken to return the medals and replace them with new ones.
