An accident occurred at Japan's "Soma Nomaoi" festival, known for its equestrian traditions.
Idman.Biz reports that the incident was recorded on the second day of the event held in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture. In the fifth race of the "Kacchu keiba" race, in which armored riders participated, the horse threw the rider off, went out of control, and ran towards the spectators.
As a result of the incident, six people were injured. According to Japanese media, one of the injured is in critical condition.
The "Soma Nomaoi" Executive Committee said in a statement that the horse that went out of control collided with a spectator and was later detained.
Note that "Soma Nomaoi" is a traditional Japanese festival with a history of more than a thousand years. At the event, armored riders participate in parades and horse races reminiscent of historical battle scenes.
