UFC President Dana White revealed that before buying the promotion in 2001, he earned approximately $380,000 per year from gyms and training.
Sports.Biz reports that White considered this amount to be "very good income" at the time.
"I left Boston and moved to Vegas. I started training people and opening up gyms. Business was booming. I had my own gyms and fighters I was training, but I prefer training people like you and housewives. You show up, you're motivated, and you pay me. Fighters don't pay you crap. I don't like training fighters, but I was doing it.
I had a very successful business. In the year before I bought the UFC, I made $380,000 from training and gyms. I hired a few people, but I did most of the work myself. Anybody in this business knows that if you're making around half a million dollars, you're doing really well", - White said.
