53-year-old Japanese ski jumping three-time Olympic medalist Noriaki Kasai explained how he can continue to compete professionally at his age.
Idman.biz reports that Kasai is a two-time silver and five-time bronze medalist at the world championship.
"I don't eat lunch. I used to do it to lose weight, but now it helps me sleep better. I get my morning energy from rice and bread, and I only eat salad for lunch. In the season when I have to lose more weight, I don't eat in the morning and only drink black coffee. Sometimes I feel hungry in the evenings, but the desire to succeed is stronger than my appetite.
I always take my bedding with me. Mattresses and pillows are too soft abroad. My mattress folds up, so I can easily transport it to Europe as I often travel by car. It is an indispensable companion for me," Kasai said.
Kasai won silver at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics and silver and bronze at the 2014 Sochi Games. He still continues to compete professionally.
