The history of the place where participants stay during the Olympic Games, called the "Olympic Village", dates back to 1924. The Summer Olympics held in Paris, the capital of France, that year went down in history with the creation of the modern "Olympic Village" concept.
Idman.Biz reports that 523 wooden houses were specially built for athletes during the Games. Each of these houses was equipped to accommodate 4-8 athletes.

The complex was not just residential buildings. There were also food outlets, medical service units and various shops in the area. This residential area, built in the Colombes suburb of Paris, near the main stadium, later became known as the "Olympic Village".

It was after the 1924 Paris Olympics that this type of residential complex created for athletes and coaches was officially and traditionally called the "Olympic Village" and was also implemented in the following Games.

Today, the complex built for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics is completely different from the one 100 years ago. Construction work, which began in January 2023, lasted 900 days. A gym, dining rooms and medical service areas for athletes are located on the first floor of the buildings.
