A shocking claim that shook the world agenda in winter sports has been spread. It has become known that athletes have special injections into the genital area of their bodies to increase the distance of the flight. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has already intervened in the matter.
According to İdman.biz, this method, exposed by the German publication "Bild", is completely calculated to gain an aerodynamic advantage.
In ski jumping, clothes are determined by 3D scanners according to body measurements. According to the rules, the suit must stick to the body completely, because every extra centimeter of fabric creates a sail effect in the air, extending the flight.
The essence of the trick is that athletes inject hyaluronic acid (not a prohibited substance) into the genital area before taking measurements. Since the scanner takes the lowest point of the body as a basis, this intervention artificially lowers that point. As a result, the scanner allows for a wider cut suit. Studies prove that a difference of only two centimeters reduces aerodynamic resistance and adds up to six meters to the jump distance. This fact has also been confirmed by one of the leading figures of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
The issue is already being discussed at the Olympic level. Although the WADA leadership says that there is no official evidence yet, it has announced that an investigation will be launched immediately if something comes out. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has stated that there has been no official confession from the athletes yet.
However, experts call this method a technological fraud, emphasizing that there are gaps in the rules. It seems that for the sake of great victory, some athletes do not hesitate to turn even their bodies into tools.
