The first round of the "Talent Selection" tournament among judokas under 17 has ended. Sport24.az reports that this was announced by the press service of the federation.
On the last day of the competition held at the Sumgayit Olympic Sports Complex, 135 judokas in 7 weight categories took to the tatami.
Girls competed in the 44 kg, 52 kg, 63 kg; boys in the 55 kg, 66 kg, 81 kg and +90 kg weight categories.
285 athletes (244 boys, 41 girls) from 71 clubs and sports societies participated in the tournament.

It should be noted that the purpose of the "Talent Selection" competition is to form a healthy base for the national team, to identify promising athletes for the team and to form a sustainable reserve base.
Athletes who are in the top 4 in each weight category in the final rating of the 2nd round will be involved in the "Hopes of the Future" training program.
