Our judoka, who defeated Briton Wesley Greenidge in his first match, faced Turkish representative Munir Ertuğ in the 1/8 finals. Gamzatkhanov, who was superior to his opponent in this match, qualified for the 1/4 finals. His next opponent will be Japanese athlete Guy Hatakeyama.
For another member of our national team, Ushangi Kokauri, the competition ended unsuccessfully. Kokauri, who defeated Polish Jakub Sordil with a waza-ari score in the 1/16 finals, faced Japanese Guy Hatakeyama in the 1/8 finals. Ushangi lost to his opponent at the end of the tense fight and stopped competing in the tournament.
Now all eyes are on Jamal Gamzatkhanov, who will face the Japanese athlete who defeated his teammate in the 1/4 finals.
