Russian figure skater Veronika Zhilina reacted in her own way to the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) not to allow her to change sports citizenship.
İdman.biz reports that the athlete shared a humorous video on her personal social media account on this occasion.
In the footage, Zhilina hangs on to the edge of the ice rink, adding the words "When I heard today's news..." to the image.
The ISU Council meeting was held on July 4-5 in Lausanne. In May 2025, Zhilina announced that she had received an Azerbaijani passport. However, the Executive Committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) did not issue her a release document.
FFKKR President Anton Sikharulidze stated that Zhilina is a member of the Russian national team and cannot move to another team. He also emphasized that they do not understand why the athlete does not participate in domestic tournaments.
