Experienced specialist Tatyana Tarasova commented on figure skater Veronika Zhilina's choice to represent Azerbaijan.
Idman.biz reports that she does not consider this transition a serious loss for Russian sports.
According to Tarasova, Zhilina is a talented young woman, but she has not competed in the last two years due to injury: "This is a very long time for a girl, especially at that age. She must have changed physically and psychologically. We need to return to international sports, participate in competitions and show results."
Tarasova also added that there are enough strong athletes in Russian figure skating: "We have many outstanding girls. Therefore, if she decides to change her sports citizenship, it is her personal matter. I do not consider this step a loss for Russia."
It should be noted that 17-year-old Zhilina obtained an Azerbaijani passport a few days ago. The Russian Figure Skating Federation has not confirmed the athlete's participation in the Azerbaijani national team.
