The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Youth Weightlifting Championship was held.
Idman.biz reports that veteran athletes celebrating their anniversaries were awarded at the event, which began with the National Anthem being played.
Vice-President of the Weightlifting Federation Firdovsi Umudov congratulated Jabrayil Jabrayilov, who celebrated his 75th birthday, and Azer Hajikhalilov, who turned 60. Jubilee celebrants were presented with letters of gratitude and awards on behalf of the AWF leadership.
In addition, a license was presented to Asif Melikov, who was awarded the title of 1st international category judge.
Two more young athletes were awarded at the opening ceremony. Deniz Bagirov and Nigar Aliyeva, who distinguished themselves in the "Best Jerk" competition held on the AWF's official Facebook page, were given gifts by the federation.
