An international webinar was organized in Baku, which has the status of the European Center of the International Weightlifting Federation, with the participation of more than 20 countries of the continent.
Idman.biz reports with reference to the press service of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation that 89 specialists from more than 20 countries participated in the webinar on the topic of International Coach License (ICL), Coach Education and Development Pathways, covering 2025–2028.
The event was attended by AAF President Kamran Nabizade, Vice President Firdovsi Umudov, member of the Federation's Board Fakhri Mehdiyev, coaches and athletes of our national team from Azerbaijan.
The webinar was opened with an introductory speech by the President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, Kamran Nabizade. Speaking about the importance of the international webinar, Kamran Nabizade recalled the visits of the presidents of the International and European Weightlifting Federations to Azerbaijan. The head of AAF expressed his gratitude to the President of the International Weightlifting Federation Mohammed Jalud and the President of the European Weightlifting Federation Astrit Hasani for their trust and wished the webinar participants success.
Calud and Hasani also welcomed the participants of the event and noted that our country has great experience in organizing such events.
Then, the solemn opening of the European Weightlifting Olympic Academy, headquartered in Baku, took place. It was stated that the commissioning of the Academy is an important step towards promoting weightlifting around the world.
It was noted that a historic success was achieved in weightlifting on the eve of the Academy's launch. Thus, according to the decision of the International Olympic Committee, weightlifting will be represented by 12 weight categories instead of 10 at the Summer Olympic Games, the world's most prestigious sports competition.
Then, a program covering the main areas of coach education and experience was presented at the webinar. Webinar participants demonstrated their presentations on anti-doping, common injuries in weightlifting, the marshal schedule and other topics.
Gudrat Safarov, a leading specialist in educational issues of AMADA, made a presentation on anti-doping.
At the end of the webinar, the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, member of the Advisory Group of the International Weightlifting Federation Firdovsi Umudov made a speech and thanked the event participants. He said that the European Weightlifting Olympic Academy located in Azerbaijan will continue its activities successfully in the future.
It should be noted that 89 specialists from more than 20 countries participated in the international webinar organized in Baku. Certificates will be presented to the webinar participants by the European Weightlifting Federation.
