Firdovsi Umudov Elected Member of the International Weightlifting Federation's "Advisory Group"

Firdovsi Umudov, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, has been appointed a member of the International Weightlifting Federation's "Advisory Group".

Firdovsi Umudov's election to this position, whose candidacy was put forward at the initiative of AWF President Kamran Nabizadeh, is a first in the history of Azerbaijani weightlifting. The AWF has received an official congratulatory letter from the International Weightlifting Federation regarding the appointment.

The election of an AWF official to the "Advisory Group" from among the federation representatives of more than 200 countries that are members of the IWF is a great achievement for our country's sports. Until now, our country had not been represented in the official structure of the European and World Weightlifting Federations by any representative.

For his great success and achievements in the field of sports, Firdovsi Umudov was awarded the "Shohrat" Order by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2012, the Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2015, and the "Taraggi" medal in 2016. Firdovsi Umudov was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports" in 2022.

Firdovsi Umudov, Master of Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Honored Coach, was chosen as the coach of the year in Azerbaijan in 2009, 2012, and 2015. As the first Azerbaijani to be chosen as the world's best coach in 2012, the experienced specialist has written his name in our sports history.

It should be noted that Firdovsi Umudov has been serving as the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation since September 28, 2023. He is also the head of the Sports Department of the "Sarhadchi Sports Center".
