"A tough and intense game was won". Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Zira's football player Ruan Renato after a 3-0 win over Georgia's Torpedo team in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
The Brazilian defender evaluated the match as follows:
"One of the factors that made the match difficult was that our opponent's championship was ongoing, while we had a short preparation period. They were physically better than us. Nevertheless, we made the most of the scoring opportunities we created. At the end of the game, the opponent did not want to compromise on the score and increased the pressure. They wanted to reduce the score difference before the return match. But we didn't let them. I think we got a good result before the away match".
Renato, who scored two goals in the match, stated that this was a special moment for him:
"For a defender to score two goals is not expected. Because my main task is to defend well. I'm happy that the goals I scored benefited my team. My teammates also made a great contribution to this victory. We were able to show high intensity on the field. Our participation in the European cups was unexpected for us. We were already on vacation. Then an opportunity arose, and thanks to the program prepared by our coaches, we were able to restore our form in a short time".
