The house arrest of Zaur Akhundov, President of the Azerbaijan Futsal Federation (AFF), has been extended.
According to Idman.Biz, referring to "Qafqazinfo", the Baku Military Court made such a decision based on the prosecutor's submission.
The judge granted the submission in order to prevent the person accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale from evading the investigation.
According to the decision, the term of the house arrest, which restricts Akhundov's change of residence, has been extended.
It should be noted that Z. Akhundov is accused under Article 179.4 of the Criminal Code (appropriation - committed with causing damage on a particularly large scale). His brother Ramin Akhundov, the head of the "Araz-Nakhchivan" football club, is wanted in connection with a criminal case involving 5 million worth of cigarette smuggling. Since he is not in the country, his arrest has not been possible. The criminal case of both brothers is being conducted by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General.
