Namig Mammadkarimov: "There was a lack of experience and self-confidence in the game against Croatia"
"Our national team failed to perform successfully in this group. But it should also be taken into account that the national team is being reformed. The head coach gave everyone a chance. There is no player that he did not send an invitation to." These words were said by Namig Mammadkarimov, a former member of the national futsal team, in his statement to Sport24.az.
The veteran futsal player commented on the 1:4 defeat against Croatia, which ensured our national team's participation in the final stage of the continental championship:
"In the game against Croatia, inexperience and lack of playing time took their toll. We must support our team. We need to change the strategy and approach in the future. We shouldn't wait for a competition to gather. We should hold several test matches a year. We must increase the number of games abroad. Of course, it is also necessary to strengthen the national championship. Futsal players should work on themselves and improve in their clubs. To be specific, there was no experience and self-confidence in the game against Croatia."
It should be noted that Croatia is the leader in the 5th group with 18 points. Greece and Sweden share the 2nd and 3rd places with 7 points. Azerbaijan is the last - 4th with 2 points.
Our team has lost once (3:4) and drawn once (3:3) in matches with Sweden so far, and also lost once (2:3) and drawn once (2:2) in matches with Greece.
