UEFA is consulting with the Latvian and Lithuanian football federations regarding the participation of the Belarusian national futsal team in the 2026 European Championship. Sport24.az reports that this has been confirmed by the press service of the highest football body.
According to information published a few days ago by the Spanish portal "Relevo", the head of the Latvian Football Federation, Vadim Lyashenko, and the president of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Edgaras Stankevičius, are against Belarus' participation in the tournament and do not want to let the team into their countries.
The continental football body, in turn, told the other party that Belarus had successfully passed the qualification and had the right to play in the final stage. Negotiations are currently ongoing in this direction.
It should be noted that the European Futsal Championship will be held from January 18 to February 8, 2026 in Riga and Kaunas. Belarus qualified for the continental championship ahead of Italy, Finland and Malta in the qualifying round.
