Former Formula-1 driver David Coulthard has supported Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, who harshly criticized the new power unit regulations.
Idman.Biz reports that many drivers expressed their dissatisfaction with the new rules during the three-day tests in Bahrain. Hamilton stated that the cars felt slower than previous series.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris, in turn, voiced his wishes regarding the power unit he uses. He demands better energy efficiency. The work of the "Red Bull" camp attracted attention. After Verstappen's pace, Toto Wolff admitted that their package might lag behind in this indicator.

On the other hand, Oscar Piastri believes that the new straight-line mode that can be applied at the starts may be dangerous and called it a "recipe for disaster".
"Red Bull"'s technical director Pierre Wache confirmed that they are experiencing problems with the weight of the car. At the same time, he emphasized that reaching the minimum weight will be difficult for almost all teams.

George Russell, on the contrary, defended the new technical regulations and said that the changes would develop the sport.
Experienced pilot Fernando Alonso also commented on the topic. He believes that his team should take the successful model of others as an example for improvement after a recent weak start.
Thus, towards the 2026 season, discussions about the rules in "Formula-1" are flaring up even more.
