The Chinese manufacturer may enter Formula 1 and WEC. According to "Bloomberg", the Chinese company BYD is exploring options for participating in various motorsport series, including Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Note that WEC also includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
The manufacturer's interest is linked to rapid growth in international markets and the transition to hybrid engines in motorsport.
According to one of the publication's sources, direct participation in Formula 1 is not easy. The company is exploring options such as buying an existing team or creating a new one. However, the potential costs of entering and competing in the championship are a serious obstacle in both cases.
No final decision has been made yet. BYD may also completely abandon the idea of entering motorsport after exploring the market.
