Yuri Vernidub talks about strengthening "Neftchi"'s squad and his future career

"We achieved what we wanted. The position we finished the season in gives us the right to play in the Conference League".

Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by "Neftchi"'s head coach Yuri Vernidub after the game against "Kapaz" in the last round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The match ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of "Neftchi".

"Many players' contracts with the club are expiring. I said earlier that talks with the players will take place after the season ends. I can say with one hundred percent certainty that there is a need to strengthen the squad. We will be dealing with this. The club has owners. They will ask me questions, and I will answer their questions. We must strengthen the team to achieve good results in both the Conference League and the Premier League. From tomorrow, we will decide who will stay and who will leave," Vernidub said.

The head coach also spoke about his future career:

"I have at least 1 year. I will do my best during this time. Coaching is difficult. Today you are on horseback, tomorrow you can fall off. If there is an offer (regarding contract extension - ed.), of course, I will think about it. I love both Azerbaijan and the people here. I am happy to be here.

"Neftchi" finished the championship in 4th place with 59 points.
