Ukrainian and Chelsea footballer Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to return to the field after a nearly two-year absence following a positive doping test.
Sport.Biz reports, citing "Reuters", that the English Football Association has completed the disciplinary process against the player in agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency. Mudryk, who last played for Chelsea in November 2024, has been granted permission to return to competition immediately.
Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso expressed his delight at the news:
"First and foremost, I'm delighted for him. Since he's been training alone for a long time, we want him to feel like a part of the team. Given that he hasn't played for a long time, we need to assess the situation regarding his future".
Mudryk will join the team in Hong Kong for the next stage of Chelsea's pre-season training. Alonso also emphasized that they did not expect such news.
