Steven Gerrard, the 45-year-old former Liverpool and England player, is a candidate for the head coach position at Championship side Middlesbrough.
İdman.Biz reports that the club's management has begun searching for a new coach to replace Rob Edwards. The list of candidates also includes Harry O'Neil, the former head coach of Bournemouth and Wolverhampton, and Carlos Coberan from Valencia. A final decision is expected to be made early next week.
Gerrard began his coaching career in 2018 at Glasgow Rangers, where he spent three years and led the team to the 2021 league title. He also worked for two years in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ettifaq. After the club's unsuccessful start to the season and the dismissal of Russell Martin, Gerrard was seriously linked with a return to Glasgow.
After 15 rounds in the English second division, Middlesbrough is in second place in the standings with 29 points.
