San Marino retains its chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup by winning League D of the Nations League.
Idman.Biz reports that the team, currently second to last in the FIFA rankings (210th) and last in Group H of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with zero points, may be able to participate in the tournament if they lose heavily to Romania. The game between these teams will be held on November 18.
If 10 of the 13 group winners from Leagues C, B and A of the Nations League qualify for the tournament, San Marino can qualify for the play-off stage of the 2026 World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. For this to happen, Northern Ireland must defeat Slovakia (November 14) and Romania must defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina (November 15). This will move these teams, who previously won League C of the Nations League, to second place in their qualifying groups.
If the situation changes in favor of Roberto Cevoli's team, they must suffer a big defeat against Romania and help the "tricolors" qualify for the World Cup.
