Former Dutch star Ruud Gullit stated that Mikel Arteta has adopted all of Pep Guardiola's ideas.
Idman.Biz reports that the 63-year-old Gullit said this in a statement to the press.
"Pep has to be given credit. He created a completely new team, the team had ups and downs, but still fought for the title. He's still close to the top. The most interesting thing is that all those who steal Pep's ideas are now succeeding. Mikel Arteta has literally taken everything from him," he said.
Ruud Gullit emphasized that it was Pep Guardiola who brought the philosophy of playing the ball from his own goal into football:
"Then people try to repeat this with players who cannot play at that level. How many defenders has Pep transferred specifically to play in this style? A lot. If you don't have such players, you shouldn't do it. Every time I hear clubs say that this is their philosophy, I think that this is Pep's philosophy."
