Spanish football club "Real Madrid" is preparing to appeal to FIFA and UEFA regarding the Negreira case involving "Barcelona".
İdman.Biz reports, citing "OKDiario", that the Madrid representative has prepared a comprehensive report on controversial refereeing decisions recorded in Spanish football in recent years. The club intends to send this document to both UEFA and FIFA after the presidential election.
According to the source, the file will include episodes allegedly affecting "Real Madrid's" results, controversial decisions, and statistics related to refereeing. The club is taking this step to initiate an international investigation against the background of "Barcelona's" payments to José Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Referees Technical Committee.
"Real Madrid" management believes that there is a serious crisis in the refereeing system. The Madrid club does not consider the frequent recurrence of controversial decisions as a coincidence and, therefore, wants to bring the issue to the attention of international football organizations.
Florentino Pérez previously stated that the Negreira case is one of the biggest scandals in the history of world football. He stated that "Real Madrid" is preparing an important file on this issue and wants UEFA to intervene in the incident from the root.
According to reports, "Barcelona" paid a total of 8.4 million euros (16.8 million AZN) to companies associated with Negreira between 2001 and 2018. The Madrid representative believes that the refereeing decisions and competition results that occurred during this period should be fully investigated.
It is reported that "Real Madrid's" prepared file consists of approximately 500 pages.
