The Executive Committee of the South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed Pitso Mosimane as the new head coach of the South African national team.
According to Idman.Biz, the organization's press service has released a statement on the matter.
Mosimane will replace Belgian coach Hugo Broos, who has been in charge of the team since 2021.
"The Executive Committee has confirmed Pitso's appointment as head coach, but we still need to finalize some details. We will make an official announcement next week," said SAFA President Danny Jordan.
Under Broos' leadership, South Africa reached the playoff stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time in history and lost 1-0 to Canada in the round of 16. At 74 years old, Broos became the oldest coach in the history of the World Cup playoffs. He resigned after the tournament.
Mosimane previously coached the South African national team from 2010 to 2012 and his last job was as the coach of Iran's Esteghlal FC, which he left in 2025.
